Confessional Evangelical Lutheran Church - Mexico

Brief History

David Orea Luna and David Chichia were received into fellowship with the WELS in 1969. Mission work began in Mexico City and Guadalajara. One year later the constitution of the Confessional Evangelical Lutheran Church of Mexico was adopted.

In 1972 Pastor Vincenet Guillén was called to pastor Cristo Resucitado congregation in Juarez. In 1984 La Santa Curz, an established congregation in Monterrey was accepted into fellowship. An additional congregation, El Redentor, in Torreon was received in 1990 and was served by a seminary graduate, Otoniel Rodriguez.

In the past four years four new missions have been started up as the church expands its outreach in the cities where it is already working. In 2005 a new seminary building was dedicated in the city of Torreón.
