Confessional Evangelical Lutheran Church - Mexico
David Orea Luna and David Chichia were received into fellowship with the WELS in 1969. Mission work began in Mexico City and Guadalajara. One year later the constitution of the Confessional Evangelical Lutheran Church of Mexico was adopted.
In 1972 Pastor Vincenet Guillén was called to pastor Cristo Resucitado congregation in Juarez. In 1984 La Santa Cruz, an established congregation in Monterrey was accepted into fellowship. An additional congregation, El Redentor, in Torreon was received in 1990 and was served by a seminary graduate, Otoniel Rodriguez.
During the following years, more students enrolled in the seminary. In 2006, due to the increase in students, a seminary building was built and dedicated in Torreon. Five years later, the church held its first national women’s convention in Monterrey. By 2011, mission work had expanded to eight of Mexico’s 31 states.
